what do you do when your 2 year old wakes up and can't breath? take him to the ER right?! well what if you are the one that had to stay home with the sleeping babes? clean, and blog of course! All day today Gage has had a runny nose. no biggie, allergies are everywhere for my family right now. So I gave him some benadryl and thought all would be well. We put him to bed at about 9:45 and by 11:45 he is up screaming and gasping for air and coughing this barky cough. I got him out of bed and tried to calm him to see if I could get his breathing better. Jared called our home teacher to give him a blessing. We got him to sleep and calm. about an hour later he was struggling again, not bad, but enough that it still worried us. so Jared decided to take him to the ER. I got to stay here and worry. But all my sweet kiddos are sleeping and we don't need to call and wake anyone else. So here I am doing the dishes, picking up toys, and blogging. Jared called to say that Gage has croup (which I thought was the culprit), he will get a breathing treatment and take steroids for a few days. and it looks like he maybe a crouper-where everytime he gets a cold or illness he will get this croupy cough. the poor kid. at least we know all is well now. They will be home soon, and maybe we will sleep. I guess surgery is off for now too. oh well. it can wait.

Poor poor Gagey! So I guess we won't be seeing you then. Much better for you guys to stay home. Love you all!

I'm so sorry. I can't even imagine being the one left at home. I felt bad leaving Charlie home, when I had to go with nathan to the ER.
I'm so glad that he is ok.

I am so sorry what a terrible night!!! I could never be the one left at home .... I think that's the most difficult job.

Hope Gage is doing better. That is scary when your kids can't breathe. It's 10:00 am and I am hoping you are still in bed. Good luck!..Maybe I will see you at motor class Thursday.

I'm so glad he's okay. It's scary! That happened to me with Craig a couple of years ago, and I had to stay home with the sleeping ones. It was the most unsettling feeling. It seemed like an eternity! And why does it have to happen in the middle of the night?

That is scary. I hope he doesn't end up getting it every time he gets a cold - that would stink! Good thing he is okay now. It's hard to know when to take them to the Dr.'s sometimes I think, so that's good that Jared took him in and that the treatments helped.

Thanks for your comments on my post - you are so nice :)

...Your water day looked like a lot of fun!

That happens to Wyatt. Jeremy and I have to sit in the bathroom with the hot, hot shower going to get him some relief. It works every time and then he doesn't have to take steroids. I'm always a little depressed when my kids get sick!
